We are delighted to learn today that the Minnesota House and Senate passed the bonding bill that includes the City of Northfield’s request for their Regional Transit Hub. The transit hub with attached pavilion will be built on the north end of the lot of the renovated 1888 depot.
The concept of the transit hub at that location arose in community meetings held 10 years ago where the public and businesses expressed their needs for a regional transit hub — one located near the center of the town and that could accommodate passengers needing to make connections with various modes of transportation, i.e., bus, city transit vans, taxis, bike, and car. Northfield will be ready for passenger rail in the future!
The transit hub-pavilion-depot complex will also provide the community with many amenities and a rich array of options for events and gatherings.
Watch for future announcements from us or the City of Northfield.
